For this assignment, there were four steps: observing and experiencing; dissecting visual and service traits; swapping personas; and redesigning for the new persona. The first step, observing and experiencing, was relatively easy, considering all I had to do was sit in the Panera section of the food court and take in all the visuals. The second step, dissecting visual and service traits, was also easy. The visual traits I discovered included green and white colors, bold typefaces, a pickup station, and lots of imagery of their food and drinks. The service traits I observed mainly included a lot of workers rushing and yelling orders chaoticly. For the persona swap, my generator made a person who is middle-aged, a first time visitor, curious, gloomy, and comes from a flat, informal culture where everyone uses first names, even with the company CEO. To accomodate this persona, I changed the pickup order stations screen to show the time left on orders, added the name to the order number, and a smiley face to show when an order was nearly done!
